Our Holiday Farm

Our Holiday Farm is gearing up for another great fall season. Last year was our most exciting yet; serving over 4,000 students through interactive, educational, and just plain fun field trips. We welcome back the schools that have joined us in the past and look forward to serving even more schools this year. We will be offering two different types of adventure programs this year.

The first option is 1 1/2  hours long and is the combination of an educational experience along with leisure activities. This experience will include:

• An interactive discussion of the farm operation with retired science teacher and owner Dave Nusbaumer A.K.A. “Farmer Dave”.  Dave has over 17 years of teaching experience in the science field and offers a professional and exciting lesson on running a farm.  All lessons will be age appropriate.
• Class hay rack ride through our 20,000 plus Christmas trees, pumpkin patch, and optional visit to the 10 acre corn maze (additional charge, also add 2 hours)
• Meet Winnie The Pooh and take pictures (K-5^th grade only)
• This option is open to k through 5^th grade students at $6.00 per student and 6^th -12^th grade students at $7.00 per student

The second option is a choice of a 2 hour long adventure program plus agricultural lab experience or an aquatic science lab for 6^th grade thru 12^th grade students at only $10.00 per student and includes the following:

• Students will learn how math, science and business skills are used on a daily basis in operating a successful farm
• Students will participate in a science lab activity which will integrate science, math, and business skills.  All labs meet specific state goals.
• Students will receive all materials needed to complete the lab at the farm
• All labs will be graded and completed projects sent home with each student
• First hand opportunity to see how various types of major farm equipment are used
• Educational tour of the Christmas trees and pumpkin patch with the agricultural lab only.

All educational adventures will include the following:

• Free live tree to each student
• Free pumpkin to each student
• Tree Maze
• Straw jump and running area
• Coupon Pack worth over $5.00
• All chaperones are FREE!
• Halloween and Christmas gift shop will be open with snacks available
• Use of outdoor picnic area for lunch or snacks
• New indoor eating area
• Use of restroom facilities (due to time constraints, please have your students take bathroom breaks prior to their arrival)

We invite your school to participate in one of these unique and educational field trip experiences at our farm weekdays beginning September 17th through November 16th.   If you would like to make it a day long trip, visit beautiful and historical Starved Rock State Park.  In order to reserve your field trip date, we require a $50.00 deposit per class.  This will be deducted from the total on the day of your field trip.  Dates fill up quickly, so call or email us today to reserve your preferred date.  The registration deadline is October 19^th.  We are open for the educational adventure programs rain or shine.
